Read the observation before the margin

Start in Market Explorer and select an item. Check the observation times on both sides and the available volume history. A recently observed high and an old low do not necessarily describe an opportunity available now. The price feed records trades reported through its provider; it is not a promise that your own order will fill at that price.

Separate the question “what was observed?” from “what order am I willing to place?” Research the item before assigning GP. Use your watchlist to retain items worth following, not as a list of instructions to buy.

Size the plan against your own constraints

Decide how much liquid GP to keep uncommitted. Then compare a proposed position with your remaining cash and exposure to the same item. The Bankroll Planner keeps your allocation settings; Strategies & Exposure connects records to your reasoning.

Grand Exchange buying limits operate over four-hour periods, and some related variants share limits. Your actual remaining allowance depends on your own activity. Check it in game rather than assuming a displayed item limit is entirely available. Taxes also reduce proceeds, so compare net proceeds with the full acquisition cost rather than using the raw high-minus-low difference.

Record fills, not intentions

When you place an order, record the intended amount in Open Orders. Update it from actual fills. An order for 500 items with only 100 acquired should not be treated as 500 owned items or a completed trade.

Keep the price, quantity and time together. If you change the plan, leave enough reasoning to understand the change later. Partial fills, cancelled orders and unsold inventory are useful evidence about the process even when there is no realised result yet.

Review once, without duplicate sales

Use the Trade Journal for separate completed trades. Do not enter the same sale there when it is already tracked through Open Orders: that would count the result twice. Compare your records with the actual game transaction, including tax, before drawing conclusions from totals.

A useful review asks whether the evidence was fresh, the chosen size was feasible and the execution matched the plan. A favourable outcome alone does not prove the original reasoning was sound.
